Celebrate the Holidays at Summerseat – Summerseat Remembers is Coming Up

Summerseat will host the 248th Anniversary of George Washington’s Arrival to Morrisville on Saturday December 7, 2024. Bring the entire family to discover the history of Summerseat and enjoy festive food and drinks, a children’s activity with a special guest from the north pole, raffle baskets, a lottery tree, vendor tables with local crafters and artists, and much more! Listen to George Washington speak, meet colonial reenactors, and support Historic Summerseat by purchasing prints of a new original painting entitled “Summerseat Still Stands” by local artist Rebecca Zawodniak.

This free event will take place from 11 am – 3 pm at Summerseat, located at 130 Legion Avenue Morrisville, PA 19067.

This holiday event will include a speech from George Washington, portrayed by Sam Davis, and colonial reenactors in period dress, who will recount the American Revolution and the founding of our country. There will be a children’s activity with a visit from Santa Claus, and a menu of enticing food which will include homemade soup, hot dogs, hot apple cider, marshmallow toasting, and various desserts to please your palate. After having fun with the raffle baskets and lottery tree, visit crafters and artists at their tables upstairs!

A new painting entitled “Summerseat Still Stands” by local artist Rebecca Zawodniak will be on display. Meet the artist, see the original painting, and purchase quality prints or notecards to support the conservation of Summerseat. Prints will be available for a special price at this event only. Come join us for this festive occasion! Historic Summerseat is the site where George Washington planned the pivotal Battle of Trenton which occurred December 26, 1776. The house continues to reflect 1700’s colonial style in the tastefully decorated rooms of this Morrisville Treasure, encapsulating history and providing important context for local education. Summerseat says Thank You to Eagle Scout Aiden Johnston

We at Summerseat want to say a word of thanks, and gratefulness to a fine young Scout by the name of Aidan Johnston.

Aidan refurbished the brick sidewalk at Historic Summerseat for his Eagle Scout project, and did an amazing job in the process.

This young man is a fine example of character, kindness, and generosity. Thank you for all your hard work.

Thank you from Don K. and all of us who enjoy and visit Summerseat!

About Eagle Scout Projects:

The Eagle Scout Service Project, or simply Eagle Project, is the opportunity for a Scout (Scouts, B.S.A.), or qualified Venturer or Sea Scout in the Boy Scouts of America (B.S.A.) to demonstrate leadership of others while performing a project for the benefit of their community. This is the culmination of the Scout’s leadership training, and it requires a significant effort on his or her part.

About the Eagle Scouts:

The Eagle Scout mission is to put Eagle pride to work forging actions that strengthen Scouting. For over 50 years, the National Eagle Scout Association (NESA) has been giving Eagle Scout pride a purpose—because a Scout’s journey does not end at Eagle. NESA members play a critical role in creating a world filled with leaders using the Scout Oath and Law to be responsible and participating citizens. Want to get involved in scouting as well?
