Summerseat says Thank You to Eagle Scout Aiden Johnston

We at Summerseat want to say a word of thanks, and gratefulness to a fine young Scout by the name of Aidan Johnston.

Aidan refurbished the brick sidewalk at Historic Summerseat for his Eagle Scout project, and did an amazing job in the process.

This young man is a fine example of character, kindness, and generosity. Thank you for all your hard work.

Thank you from Don K. and all of us who enjoy and visit Summerseat!

About Eagle Scout Projects:

The Eagle Scout Service Project, or simply Eagle Project, is the opportunity for a Scout (Scouts, B.S.A.), or qualified Venturer or Sea Scout in the Boy Scouts of America (B.S.A.) to demonstrate leadership of others while performing a project for the benefit of their community. This is the culmination of the Scout’s leadership training, and it requires a significant effort on his or her part.

About the Eagle Scouts:

The Eagle Scout mission is to put Eagle pride to work forging actions that strengthen Scouting. For over 50 years, the National Eagle Scout Association (NESA) has been giving Eagle Scout pride a purpose—because a Scout’s journey does not end at Eagle. NESA members play a critical role in creating a world filled with leaders using the Scout Oath and Law to be responsible and participating citizens. Want to get involved in scouting as well? Attention History Lovers – Reenactor Volunteer Wanted

Do you love history and would you love to have some fun portraying a historic figure at special events?

Summerseat is seeking a reenactment volunteer to portray Mr. Barclay.

During General Washington’s time at Summerseat, the mansion was owned by Thomas Barclay, who would become America’s first consul overseas and who also negotiated the first treaty for the United States with a foreign nation, Morocco. John Adams and Thomas Jefferson, with whom Barclay worked while in France, recommended Barclay for this position.

History knowledge and experience portraying a historic figure is a plus, however, if you are willing to learn about Mr. Barclay and feel you may be the right fit, we would love to hear from you. The age range we are looking to portray for Mr. Barclay is 40 – mid 60s.

Our volunteers make a difference bringing history to life for children and adults alike.

Come be a part of preserving and making Bucks County History! Call today to inquire if you think you might be able to help.

Contact Don at or 267 258 6728 or email beans2000_19067@yahoo.com for more information or if you can help.

This is your chance to experience life as Mr. Barclay, to make a difference at Summerseat and to educate others while doing so – a wonderful volunteer opportunity!

Would you consider helping Summerseat?
