Statement of Support for the USA 250th Birthday Celebration
The US Semiquincentennial 250th Anniversary of the founding of the United States will be observed at Summerseat during the year of 2026. Historic Morrisville Society recognizes the importance of the values our nation was founded upon, and our part in history. The location of Morrisville’s Lower Ferry and its role in the establishment of our nation’s foundation and Summerseat as Washington’s Headquarters in December 1776 with its owners having been signers of the Declaration of Independence and the US Constitution is significant to us and to our nation’s legacy. We are honored to be a part of this historic occasion which include Bucks County, the State of Pennsylvania, and America 250 Commissions.
It is important to bring all our citizens and communities into this celebratory year, because our country has become great due to our shared ideals of liberty and equality. We are here today because of the heritage left to us by our forefathers who fought and died for our nation. As time moves forward, we yearn to work towards the future of continued success of our Great Nation.
The America250 Foundation set up by the US Commission wishes to educate, preserve, innovate, and celebrate our combined history. Summerseat and Historic Morrisville Society support these efforts. We look forward to a busy year in 2026 as we join together as Americans to recognize our part in this celebration.
